COLORADO COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT

Sheriff ’s Report

TUESDAY, DEC. 10

At approximately 7:19 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 2000 block of FM 1291, Fayetteville, in reference to an abandoned vehicle involved in a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, the owner was located and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Case cleared.

At approximately 6:51 a.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to FM 102 near the Rice Research Center, Eagle Lake, in reference to a stray horse. After further investigation, the horse was picked up from the auction barn by Habitat for Horses. Case is cleared.

At approximately 10:24 a.m., deputy Cantu while patrolling US 90 near Hatterman Lane, Weimar, I conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, a subject was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Misdemeanor “C”. Case cleared.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 11 At approximately 9:30 a.m., deputy Smyers received a Public Service in regards to a theft that occurred in Sheridan. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.

At approximately 9:16 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to the 1200 block of CR 222, Weimar, for a stray animal. After further investigation, the owner of the livestock was located and arraignments were made for the owner to retrieve the animal. Case cleared.

THURSDAY, DEC. 12

At approximately 7:18 p.m., deputy Machac conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of State Highway 71 East and FM 1890 near Columbus. After further investigation, a vehicle search was conducted and a subject was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Misdemeanor “C”. Case cleared.

FRIDAY, DEC. 13

At approximately 2:56 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to a business located at the 6700 block of US Hwy 90, Sealy, in reference to theft. Information was received and a report taken. Case active.

At approximately 9:21 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to the 1000 block of Vineyard Hill Lane, New Ulm, in reference to damaged property. Upon further investigation it was determined an unidentified vehicle had run off the road and struck several mailboxes. Case closed due to insufficient evidence.

SUNDAY, DEC. 15

At approximately 3:15 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 1000 block of Magnolia Lane, Alleyton, in reference to a theft. After further investigation, information was received and a report taken. Case inactive.

MONDAY, DEC. 16

At approximately 1:30 p.m., deputy Pavlicek assisted Columbus Police Department in the 100 block of Jane Drive, Columbus, with a disturbance. The scene was released to the CPD. Case information only.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., deputy Byars was informed by dispatch of an active pursuit entering the county. After further investigation, spike strips were successfully deployed to bring the pursuit to a safe stop where a suspect was apprehended. Case information only.

TUESDAY, DEC. 17

At approximately 10:36 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to the 1400 block of County Road 253, Weimar, Tx, for a child welfare check. After further investigation, Estefany Tapia Ramirez, age 20, of Weimar and Maria De Los Ángeles-Tapia Ramirez, age 31, of Weimar, were both arrested for Abandon/ Endanger Child w/ intent to Return - State Jail Felony. Case cleared by (2) adult arrests.

At approximately 4:24 p.m., deputy Zwahr was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office in reference to fraud that occurred in the 2700 block of FM 2434, Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case information only.

At approximately 6:22 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to the 7800 block of Highway 71 S in Garwood in reference to a burglary. After further investigation, it was determined that no burglary had occurred at the above address. Case information only.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 18 At approximately 8:22 p.m., deputy Mican was called to the Tractor Supply at 4880 IH-10 in reference to a theft. A male and female subjects stole approximately $2,500 in merchandise.

THURSDAY, DEC. 19 At approximately 9:39 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 3000 block of County Road 106, Rock Island, Tx, in reference to estray livestock. Cattle were transported to the Columbus Cattleman Auction Barn. Case pending the identity of the cattle owner.

FRIDAY, DEC. 20

At approximately 11:50 p.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office for an assault that occurred in the 500 block of Travis St, Alleyton, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.

SATURDAY, DEC. 21

At approximately 2:00 p.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to the 6000 block of US Hwy 90 in Sealy for a possible mental subject. After further investigation, Yin Pongrass, age 42, of Katy, Tx, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct - Misdemeanor “C”. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 4:42 p.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to IH-10 West Bound near Borden, Tx, for a possible disturbance. After further investigation, Meagan Davis, age 34, of Cleveland, Tx

The Citizen recognizes that Sheriff Lindemann is the new standing Colorado County Sheriff. However, the dates of the Sheriff’s reports are still within the previous Sheriff’s tenure. The picture will update once the date reaches Jan. 1 and beyond.
