The Columbus Lady Cardinals have a 9-4-1 record thanks to the recent five-game winning streak that they are currently on.
The Lady Cards defeated the likes of Bay City, Calhoun, Orange Grove, Ganado and Industrial.
Vs. Bay City, W, 11-1
The Lady Cards started this winning streak against Bay City and they jumped all over them from the opening pitch.
The Lady Cards scored runs in every inning of the game as their offense came out swinging. They scored three runs int he first, two in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and then finally three in the fifth.
It boosted the Lady Cards to a win and looking at the box score is cool because it reads three, two, one, two, three.
The win boosted the team’s confidence and shifted their focus to their net game against Calhoun.
Vs, Calhoun, W, 8-4
Like their game against Bay City the Lady Cards came out swinging in the first inning and scored four runs.
With a comfortable 4-0 lead the Lady Cards prevented Calhoun from scoring thanks to the combined effort of the defense and Peyton Drozd and Mia Post having a great game in the circle.
They combined to pitch seven innings while giving up four runs on six hits while striking out four batters. The offense came back to life in the third where they extended their lead to 5-0.
In the top of the fourth and fifth inning Calhoun finally solved the Lady Cards defense and scored two runs in those innings to make the score 5-2. The Lady Cards offense again flexed its muscles and scored three runs in the fifth to put the game just out of reach.
The Lady Cards offense had a strong outing against Calhoun and had two players, Taylor Morrow and Emma Beauchamp, hit doubles in the winning effort.
The offense continued to hum in their third game as they poured on the points for their third win.
Vs. Orange Grove, W, 18-3
This game started out a little different than the others with Orange Grove scoring three runs in the top of the first. The Lady Cards offense came ready to play though and evened up the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the first.
The Lady Cards then came back in the second inning to score eight runs and then scored seven more runs between the third and fourth inning. Morrow once again hit a double for the Lady Cards but so did Aggie Rodriguez, Averie Miller and Allie Cranek.
Mia Post was in the circle for the Lady Cards, and she gave up three runs on two hits while striking out eight batters in four innings.
Vs. Ganado, W, 2-1
It would not be a true winning streak without a little bit of drama and excitement and this game was full of it.
The first three innings were scoreless, and it made the fans in attendance a bit anxious as they sat on the edge of their seat waiting for the first score of the game. Gando Finally opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning when they scored one run to hold onto a 1-0 lead.
That does not seem like much but in a tight game like this one that could have been the nail in the coffin. But once again the Lady Cards offense came ready to play, Cranek hit a single then Ella Berger got walked to get the leading run on base and then Miller hit a double to bring them both home and give the Lady Cards the lead which they held onto for the win.
Vs. Industrial, W, 15-0
There is not too much left to say this offense is flying high right now and showing no signs of stopping. They scored 15 runs and shutout Industrial to keep this winning streak alive.
Four batters hit home runs for the Lady Cards in the win too, Rodriguez, Morrow, Cranek and Ellie Brown all hit home runs as they locked up their fifth win in a row.
The Lady Cards will try to keep the streak alive when they take on Palacios in their next scheduled game.

Mia Post recorded 15 strikeouts in three games while in the circle for the Lady Cards. Citizen | Evan Hale
