Sheriff ’s Report
SUNDAY, DEC. 1
At approximately 2:35 a.m., deputy Blaha while patrolling FM 950 near Garwood conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, it was determined the vehicle being pulled over was recently stolen out of Garwood, Tx, and the vehicle pulling the truck was also reported stolen out of Matagorda County. Taylor Lee George, age 31, of Angleton, Tx, was arrested for Theft of Property >=$2,500<$30k - State Jail Felony and Marcus Ray Nelson, age 29, of West Columbia, Tx, was arrested for Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle State Jail Felony and Theft of Property >=$2,500<$30k - State Jail Felony. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 5:34 a.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to the 1800 block of IH-10 Weimar in reference to a vehicle fire. After further investigation, information was received and it was determined two vehicles were a total loss. Case is active.
At approximately 1:19 p.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to the 300 block of Bluebonnet Bend, Sheridan, Tx, in reference to a structure fire. After further investigation, the fire was extinguished with the structure being deemed a total loss and determined the fire was not suspicious in manner. Case cleared.
MONDAY, DEC. 2
At approximately 8:30 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to a public service in regards to a possible theft on JT Powell Road, Sheridan, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case active.
At approximately 3:58 p.m,. deputy Smyers was dispatched to the 1000 block of CR 134, Columbus, Tx, in reference to an animal call. After further investigation, information was received and a subject was issued a citation for Certain Dogs and Coyotes Prohibited From Running at Large - Misdemeanor “C”. Case cleared.
TUESDAY, DEC. 3
At approximately 8:07 a.m., deputy Zwahr was dispatched to a business located in the 6700 block of Hwy 90, Sealy, in reference to a theft. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.
At approximately 9:50 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to a business in Alleyton for a theft of a license plate. After further investigation, information was received and the plate was entered into TCIC/NCIC as stolen. Case inactive.
At approximately 10:39 a.m., deputy Zwahr was dispatched to a property on US-90A near Eagle Lake in reference to a theft. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.
At approximately 12:00 p.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to the 900 block of Front Street, Glidden, for a possible criminal mischief. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is inactive.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to a public service for missing livestock in the 1300 block of CR 260, Weimar, Tx. After further investigation, information was received which determined the livestock were not missing. Case information only.
WEDNESDAY, DEC. 4
At approximately 4:14 p.m., deputy Tomas was dispatched to a RV Park near Glidden in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, neither subjects wished to pursue charges and were separated on scene. Case information only.
THURSDAY, DEC. 5
At approximately 12:22 a.m., deputy Blaha was patrolling on IH-10 near Columbus when he conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle reported stolen out of Austin Police Department. After further investigation, Elian Portillo, age 19, of Houston, Tx, was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle - State Jail Felony. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 4:25 a.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to a business located in the 7000 block of State Highway 71, Garwood, Tx, in reference to an alarm. Upon further investigation, it was determined unknown suspects broke into the building and stole property from within. Case is active.
At approximately 9:20 a.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to a public service in reference to check fraud that occurred in the 6600 block of Hwy 71 S, Garwood, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.
At approximately 11:53 a.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to the 2200 block of Lupton Street, Rock Island, Tx, in reference to an assault. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case active.
At approximately 1:14 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 1900 block of County Road 151, Columbus, in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, information was received and the parties were separated on scene. Case information only.
FRIDAY, DEC. 6
At approximately 4:03 a.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to the 1000 block of McDonald Road, Eagle Lake, in reference to a stolen vehicle. After further investigation, information was received and the vehicle was entered into the TCIC/NCIC as stolen. Case active.
At approximately 6:14 a.m., deputy Zwahr was dispatched to the 1600 block of Stokes Road, Fayetteville, in reference to a stolen vehicle. After further investigation, information was received and the vehicle was entered into TCIC/NCIC as stolen. Case active.
At approximately 10:48 a.m., deputy Mican was dispatched to the 5000 block of US-90A, Eagle Lake, in reference to a theft. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.
SATURDAY, DEC. 7
At approximately 5:00 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to the 1600 block of Smith Rau Road near Columbus in reference to an intoxicated person. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is cleared.
At approximately 10:00 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to the Columbus Community Hospital in reference to a dog bite that occurred in the 1300 block of Alleyton Road, Alleyton, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case information only.
SUNDAY, DEC. 8
At approximately 3:17 a.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 1300 block of Lakeside Drive, Eagle Lake, in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Siblena Cochran, age 42, of Eagle Lake, Tx, was arrested for Assault Family/Household Member with Previous Conviction - Felony 3, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Misdemeanor “C”. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to the 1200 block of CR 2103, Weimar, Tx for a theft. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to the 200 block of Arthur Street in Garwood, Tx regarding a 911 hangup. Upon further investigation, an assault took place around the 200 block of Arthur Street. No arrests were made at this time.
MONDAY, DEC. 9
At approximately 11:32 p.m., deputy Mican received a report of an assault that occurred in the jail located in the 2200 block of Walnut Street, Columbus, Tx, on December 8, 2024. After further investigation, information was received and determined no prosecution would be desired. Case cleared.
At approximately 3:58 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 800 block of Warwick Street, Eagle Lake, Tx in reference to a road rage incident which occurred on FM 102 near Alleyon. Information was received and the report was taken. A separate harassment offense occurred while on scene, which incident will be referred to Eagle Lake Police Department. Case information only.
