Vs Tidehaven, W, 9-3

The Lady Cards responded to their first district loss with a big win against Tidehaven. Their potent hitting returned as the offense bounced back from a slow outing against Hallettsville in the prior game. After being shut out in two of three games before the Hallettsville game, the Lady Cards were due for a breakout offensively as they matched their highest run total since a late February matchup against La Grange.

Vs Palacios, W, 15-0

Columbus had their best game of the season against the Sharkettes to put an exclamation point on an undefeated week. The Lady Cards had their way with their opponents on the defensive end and poured on an onslaught of runs offensively. After playing through a scoreless first inning, the Lady Cards broke the game open in the second inning. Columbus scored 11 runs in the second as they piled up hits. The Palacios pitching struggled to prevent multiple-base hits and their fielding could not produce outs on the base path as Columbus put the game out of reach. After another scoreless inning from both squads in the third, the Lady Cards added four more runs in the fourth to effectively put the game to bed. Columbus held Palacios scoreless once again in the bottom half of the fourth inning and finished with a mercy rule, shutout victory.

There were plenty of standout performances for the Lady Cards in this game, but the highlight moment came after a big swing by Madyson Carter that knocked a pitch the distance for a three-run homerun to extend the Columbus lead. While the offense created a big lead, the Lady Cards’ defense and pitching ensured that the lead would be safe. Stellar performances by Mia Post and Karlee Mathis on the mound stifled the Palacios offense as they combined for a no-hitter by the Sharkettes.
