The Weimar Ladycats season ended recently and with that comes All-District honors and the Ladycats had five players selected to the All-District team.
In addition to the five players being named to the All-District team the Ladycats had one player win an individual award.
Zariah Sims was named the Co-6th Man Player of the Year award along with Hailey Radicke from Shiner and Jalee Tressell from Flatonia. Sims was a great asset for the Ladycats this season and was one of the most consistent guards on the team.
While she took home an individual award for her effort this season two of her fellow guards played well enough to make the First All-District team. J’Len Conn and Claire Pavlu were both selected to be on the First All-District team and they more than earned their spot.
This duo of guards played a ton of minutes for the Ladycats and were vital to the Ladycats offense. They were great facilitators and were very strong and consistent scorers for the Ladycats this season.
They were joined on the first team by teammate Jaiya Cook, she earned her spot by being a dominant paint presence. She was by far one of the best rebounders in the district and her defense inside the paint frustrated several teams this season.
Cook was also a force on offense as she led the Ladycats in scoring most games this season to earn a spot on the First All-District team.
As for the Second All-District team, the Ladycats had two of their players selected to the team. Madi Luckey was one of the two Ladycats selected and at the forward position she was a steadying force for the Ladycats.
Her leadership was invaluable to the Ladycats, and she helped keep the team grounded even during intense situations.
The second Ladycat on the Second All-District team was sophomore guard Tate Griffin. Griffin was a huge part of the offense and was one of the best shooters in the district.
Griffin is a huge competitor though and will have her eyes on a deeper playoff push and a spot on the First All-District team next year.
