The Weimar Ladycats played two games this past week and won one of them and lost the other.

They took on Rosebud-Lott and Hallettsville and scored eight runs and only gave up five and still only won one of those games.

Vs. Rosebud-Lott, W, 8-1 In the first game the Ladycats returned to the style of play fans are accustomed to seeing. The Ladycats basketball team had a few softball players on their team and to start the season they were unavailable because they were going on a deep playoff run.

The trio of Tate Griffin, Claire Pavlu and MJ Griffin all returned to the Ladycats softball team after basketball season, and they made immediate impact. All three players hit doubles in the win over Rosebud- Lott as the Ladycats cruised to a victory.

Taylor Smith was in the circle for the Ladycats, and she pitched all five innings where she gave up only one run on two hits and struck out nine batters.

The Ladycats were riding high after this win, but they were brought back down to earth in their second game against Hallettsville.

Vs. Hallettsville, L, 4-0 This was an odd game for the Ladycats, the gave up the first run of the game in the top of the first and did not give up any more runs until the fifth inning where they gave up three runs.

The offense just could not get going in this game and recorded only two hits. Defensively the Ladycats played well enough to win the game.

They kept the game at 1-0 all the way until the fifth inning and gave the offense plenty of chances to get into the game. Hallettsville is usually a really strong team and this season it seems like it is no different.

It also may just have been an off game for the Ladycats as they are in tournament play and fatigue is a factor.

The Ladycats will look to bounce back and avenge the loss and the shutout when they take on Schulenburg on the road on Tuesday, Mar. 4, at 6 p.m.
