Eagle Lake Noon Lions host owner of Moonside Macaron as guest speaker

Last Thursday, Feb. 20, the Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club hosted David Burkhalter, owner of Moonside Macarons located in downtown Eagle Lake, as their special guest speaker.

Besides baking and selling delightful Macarons, cheesecake, Madeleine cookies and tiramisu, Burkhalter is providing some creative opportunities for young people in Eagle Lake by offering two different initiatives; an after school LARP program and a Community Garden.

LARP stands for Live Action Role Play where middle and high school kids get involved physically, emotionally and intellectually in role playing different eras in history. The bakery is a screen-free zone where young people also gather to play board games that stretch their imaginations.

The Community Garden will start off small, but will provide opportunities for the kids to plant, care for and grow their own vegetables.
