Colorado County Fair to host shrimp boil April 12 The Colorado County Fair Association will be hosting a shrimp boil on Saturday, April 12.

The boil will cost $40 per ticket or $500 for a table of 8, which comes with snacks and waitstaff.

Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with the meal to be served at 6 p.m. A live auction will take place at 7 p.m.

The Jr. Fair Board will also be organizing a silent auction.

Shrimp will be served with sausage, corn and potatoes, with the shrimp and sausage being boiled by Southern Sip.

Grilled chicken will also be available.

Live Oak Art Center to host scholarship fundraiser March 21

The Live Oak Art Center will be hosting a scholarship fundraiser on Friday, March 21 in the courtyard outside.

The fundraiser will take place starting at 5 p.m., with a shrimp and crawfish boil supplied by Southern Sip Crawdaddy’s.

A 50/50 raffle will be taking place, with live music played by Darrel Appelt and Songbird Phil.

The courtyard wine bar will be open, serving cold beers and wine from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

St. John’s Episcopal Church to host pancake dinner March 4 St. John’s Episcopal Church will be hosting a pancake dinner on Tuesday, March 4 right before Ash Wednesday. Anyone is welcome to be a guest. Pancakes, sausage and all the fixings will be served. The pancake dinner will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church drive thru imposition of ashes March 5 St. Paul Lutheran Church is providing a drive thru imposition of ashes on Wednesday, March 5, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm at the St. Paul Lutheran Lighthouse. March 5 is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Everyone is welcome to use this service.

OST Creamery’s “Create Your Own Cookie” set for Feb. 28

OST Creamery, a local icecream and dessert shop in Columbus will be hosting their “Create Your Own Cookie” special this Friday, Feb. 28.

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., customers can build their own cookie from “scratch” based off four cookie flavors, chocolate chip, oreo, sugar and peanut butter, and top it with one of four choices of icing, cream cheese, pink almond, cinnamon or chocolate.
