Rice Soccer split games against Hallettsville

The Rice Raiders and Lady Raiders both matched up against Hallettsville and one came away with a win while the other did not.

Lady Raiders

Starting with the Lady Raiders they were the team to come up short against Hallettsville. Even though the Lady Raiders lost they put up a great effort in an attempt to come back and win the game.

The Lady Raiders lost the game 3-2 but by the end of the first half they were behind on the scoreboard 2-0. That is a pretty big deficit, but the Lady Raiders are a determined group, and they erased Hallettsville’s two goal lead in the second half.

Shortly after the Lady Raiders tied the game the game started to feel like, “next goal wins” and both teams played with that type of intensity. Unfortunately, the Lady Raiders would be the team to give up the final goal of the game and were handed a loss on their home field.

The Lady Raiders are still alive in the playoff race despite the loss and will be looking to stack up some wins down the stretch.

Raiders

The boys had a completely different experience against Hallettsville as they dominated Hallettsville 8-0.

The Raiders offense has been fun to watch this season. They move the ball well and get tons of quality scoring chances. Early in the season the Raiders struggled to finish these scoring chances but against Hallettsville they finally got over the hump.

In the first half of the game the Raiders scored three goals against Hallettsville and kept that pressure in the second half. In the second half the Raiders added five more goals to their lead.

The Raiders were easily able to hang onto their 8-0 lead and finished the game with a huge win as they try to lock up a playoff spot.
