On Wednesday, Feb. 13, SAS students earned a total of 32 awards at the Sacred Heart Academic Meet in Hallettsville. Students that won first place medals were: 5th grader Hudson Henneke Written Math, Grayson Wolters (Dictionary Skills), 6th grader Carson Crosby (Social Studies), Kyle Glueck (Religion and Number Sense) and 8th grader Joshua Newman (Social Studies).
On Saturday Feb. 15th, the SAS One Act Play cast and crew won 2nd place at their competition in Austin. Their performance of “Disorder in the Court” set the stage for some individual awards as well: Joshua Newman (Best Performer), Colson Glueck, Parker Pilat (All-Star Cast), Colette Harrell, Isabella Lowe (Honorable Mention All-Star Cast), Kaden Glueck (All-Star Tech Crew). Special congratulations to directors Vickie Glynn and Sharon Hajovsky on a job well done.
Last Saturday, SAS held its annual Gala at the Columbus Hall. The Gala is the PTC’s second largest fundraiser (behind the Halloween Carnival). These fundraisers allow the PTC to directly support the school and help keep tuition down for SAS families. SAS appreciates the hard work of the Gala chairmen Natalie Wright and Kami Zapf for making it happen. A big thank you goes out to all those that supported or sponsored the event.
SAS student groups met yesterday to discuss the character trait empathy during their “Character Counts” monthly get-together. The teams came up with ways to show empathy for others and talked about understanding what others may be feeling or going through, especially when they haven’t gone through it themselves. Books about empathy were read and the groups chatted about characters in the books that were compassionate and caring.
Next Tuesday, March 4 the SAS Early Childhood will hold its annual Open House for those interested in learning about the PreK 3, PreK 4 and Kindergarten programs. Bring your little one from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for an activity, snack, and to meet the teacher. Please let the school office know if you plan to attend by calling 979-732-5505.
2025-26 registration has opened for current SAS families on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Families that are members of St. Anthony, St. Roch, or St. Peter St. Paul parishes may register beginning on Monday, March 17. Public registration opens on March 31.
