GES celebrates 100th day of school

Students at Garwood Elementary celebrated the 100th day of school on Thursday, Feb. 6, with a “Kindness and Giving Challenge.”

The small campus of approximately 120 students were challenged to collect 100 quarters for the Garwood Volunteer Fire Department, 100 canned goods for the Eagle Lake Food Pantry and 100 pet supplies for local animal shelters. This goal was met and exceeded in two weeks time.

Students collected 3,776 quarters, or $944, that was donated to the Garwood Volunteer Fire Department. 459 canned goods were collected and delivered to Eagle Lake Food Pantry.

Additionally, 130 pet supplies (dog and cat food, treats and toys) were collected and will be delivered to local animal shelters. The staff at Garwood Elementary are beyond proud. We absolutely love that our students and parents have such giving, caring, kind hearts.
