DAR HONORS PROPER FLAG DISPLAY

The John Everett Chapter of the DAR recognized Michael (Smitty) Smith for his American Flag display for the month of March. The chapter said Smith is a retired fireman from Houston and now volunteers locally. They said he also displays firefighter and police recognition flags. “Smitty has many fire hydrants and other related items on display in recognition of the firefighters and police who have died doing their jobs of protecting us,” a spokesperson for the chapter said. “We wish to commend this man for all he has done in his lifetime.” Pictured are Nelma Strey, Michael Smith, Judy Zachmeyer and Randa Simmons.
