Ladycats win Bi-District and Area Championships

The Weimar Ladycats playoff journey is off to a great start as they have collected the Bi-District and Area Championships.

The Ladycats defeated Granger in the Bi-District round then defeated Burtin for the Area Championship.

Bi-District Championship In the Bi-District Championship the Ladycats took on the Granger Lady Lions in Giddings and the Ladycats won that game 52-42.

The Ladycats did what they normally do and that is simply play aggressively on both sides of the ball. Defensively they were on top of the Lady Lions from the opening tip and kept everything to the outside.

They did a good job of not allowing the Lady Lions in the paint which forced the Lady Lions to take shots they are not comfortable with and forced turnovers. The Ladycats also won the rebounding battle, that helped them get extra possessions and get the ball in the hands of their scorers.

The offense made no mistake and took advantage of the opportunities given to them. The scary part about the Ladycats offense is once they get in a rhythm, they are hard to stop.

They found their rhythm early against Granger and they rode that wave and were crowned BI-District Champs for their efforts.

Area Championship Coming off the big win over Granger in the Bi-District round the Ladycats know the most important win in their season is the next one at this point. They celebrated their Bi-District Championship, but it was right back to work Thursday night.

Once again, the Ladycats defense set the tone in this game in the first they came out aggressive and held Burton to only eight points in the first quarter. The Ladycats scored 16 points in the first quarter to hold onto the lead going into the second.

The Ladycats defense stumbled in the second quarter and gave up 14 points while the offence scored 12 and held onto a 28-22 lead at halftime.

The tone had changed after the half, and it was all offense for the rest of the game. The third quarter saw the Ladycats outscore Burton 15-11 and 19-13 in the fourth to finish the game with a 62-46 final score in favor of the Ladycats.

The Ladycats were crowned the Area Champs after the game but are not satisfied and have their eyes on a bigger trophy as they push deeper into the playoffs.
