The Eagle Lake Chamber of Commerce celebrated their 75-year anniversary at their annual chamber banquet this past Saturday, Jan. 25.
The chamber remarked on a year that saw new members join, work done on the chamber building, inaugural events such as the Market Days kickoff and success with the hosting of the Christmas parade.
Attendees got to feast on a steak dinner featuring salad, potatoes, green beans and a roll, courtesy of Austin’s BBQ who provided catering for the event.
James E. Brasher, a Weimar native and author of the book “11 Days on the Colorado: The Pivotal Battle Unfought,” was the guest speaker for the event, diving into the theme of the book which captures the standoff between the Texian and Mexican armies, detailing the time General Sam Houston and his troops withdrew to the Colorado River.
