The Rice Raiders blew out the Yoakum Bulldogs 76-49 on Friday, Jan. 24, to move into first place in the district.
The win put the Raiders at the top of the district standings with an 8-1 record through nine games, while the Bulldogs remain in second place with a 7-2 record.
Junior Robert Bennett was the top scorer with 22 points in this game. Other scorers included: Jon Woods, Deveron Bennett, Dneriyan Fuller, Dyren Johnson, Arrington “AJ” Jenkins, and Paul Valles.
Collectively the Raiders had 33 rebounds (22 offensive rebounds and 11 defensive rebounds), 25 steals, 3 blocks and 23 assists.
According to MaxPreps, the Raiders are currently ranked 61st in Texas Division 3A teams and have an 18-6 overall record.
The Raiders played at home Tuesday, Jan. 28, where they took on Edna. They will travel to Columbus Friday, Jan. 31, to play the third-ranked Cardinals.
