Turtle Wing Foundation partners with Fayette County S.D. and EMS to distribute sensory bags

The Turtle Wing Foundation is proud to announce a new initiative aimed at fostering inclusivity and enhancing community support: the distribution of sensory bags to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and Fayette County EMS.

These sensory bags are thoughtfully designed to assist first responders in better supporting individuals with sensory processing differences, including those on the autism spectrum, during emergencies.

With the generous funding provided by the Turtle Wing Foundation, these sensory bags will be equipped with tools to help reduce anxiety and provide comfort in highstress situations.

Items such as noise-canceling headphones, stress balls, fidget tools, and weighted lap pads will be included. These resources can make a significant difference in de-escalating situations and ensuring a safe and positive experience for individuals in need.

“Our mission at Turtle Wing Foundation has always been to support and strengthen families and individuals with learning challenges, including autism, down syndrome, adhd and other challenges,” said Destiny Siptak, Executive Director of Turtle Wing Foundation. “Partnering with our local first responders is an incredible step forward in creating a more inclusive community where everyone feels supported and understood.”

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and EMS teams have embraced this initiative with enthusiasm and a commitment to fostering inclusivity. First responders are often on the front lines during emergencies, and the availability of sensory bags provides them with additional tools to better connect with and support all members of the community.

“We are deeply grateful to the Turtle Wing Foundation for providing these sensory bags,” said Josh Vandever, Director of the Fayette County EMS. “This initiative will help our team respond more effectively and compassionately to individuals with sensory sensitivities, ensuring everyone in Fayette County feels safe and respected.”
