The KC Free Throw contest was held on Jan. 15 in the SAS Gym with a good turnout of participants. The following SAS students won their age group competitions and will move on to the next round: MJ Rapalo 9 year-old boys, Taitlyn Beauchamp - 10 year-old girls, Grayson Wolters – 10-year-old boys, John Neal – 11 year-old boys, Cormac Barten – 12-yearold boys, Abby Fuller – 13-year-old girls, Taylor Radley – 13-year-old boys. Congratulations to the champions and kudos to all that participated.

This evening, SAS basketball teams travel to Schulenburg to take on St. Rose. This Saturday, Jan. 25, the A boys basketball team will participate in the Faith Academy tournament in Bellville. On Monday, Jan. 27, teams travel to Shiner to play at St. Ludmila.

Last Thursday, Jan. 16, Mr. Buddy Pilat volunteered for the SAS Watch D.O.G.S. program. He spent the day helping in classrooms, PE and cafeteria duty. SAS appreciates all of our Dads of Great Students and their willingness to be a positive presence on campus!

St. Anthony School recently received a $2,000 donation from Hocheim Prairie (Branch 30). SAS is grateful for their generosity and will use the funds for technology updates.

This past Tuesday, Jan.21, Saints of all ages met in groups and discussed the character trait “self-control”. Students shared coping ski l ls and ways to maintain self-control in different situations. During the meetings, Saints also put the finishing touches on their team flags for Catholic School’s Week.

Catholic School’s Week kicks off on Sunday, Jan. 26 with a 10 a.m. mass, followed by Open House at the school. On Monday, Jan. 27, a Storybook Walk and Book Drive will be the focus, while Saints dress as their favorite character from a book.

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, everyone will wear a concert t-shirt and enjoy a “Name That Tune” competition. Wednesday, Jan. 29 brings back the Disco era with a dance party. Thursday, Jan. 30 is Field Day and full of fun and games. Friday, Jan. 31 ends the week with “Super Saints” and the talent show, followed by an early dismissal at noon.

Upcoming events

Catholic Schools Week Jan. 26 through Jan. 31. Early Release at 12:00 p.m. on Jan. 31. SAS welcomes all to attend Children’s Mass on Fridays at 8:15 a.m.
