Is there a children’s book in you? Then be at the Weimar Public Library on Friday, Feb. 7 at 10:00 a.m.
Sally Reynolds, a writer, speaker, and curator of fine arts, has added children’s author to her extensive list of accomplishments, and will address the writing of children’s books and how to try your hand at writing.
Reynolds will showcase her first children’s book, “Tid and Tad: A Tale of True Friendship” (with a 5-star rating on Amazon) in an interactive presentation to provide the audience with getting into writing stories for children.
Reynolds’ presentation will focus on the writing of children’s stories based on “the child within us all,” because so many comment to her that they would love to write a children’s book. Her message is that we all could have a book in us.
Using her first ever children’s book as her example, Reynolds will take you through her experiences in writing and lead you through some of the tough experiences first time writers have.
In addition, the audience will experience a book that shares positive messages about growing up and offers an upbeat perspective on life changes that will resonate with parents as well as children. This just may be the book you will want to add to your child’s permanent collection.
Reynolds, from Round Top, Texas is well known in the world of art. She is also the author and principal researcher of Houston Reflections – Art in the City, 1950’s, 60’s, and 70’s. The book is recognized as an important and unique archival project documenting the visual arts of the city.
“Tid and Tad: A Tale of True Friendship” is beautifully illustrated. Her illustrator Mary Quiros is from Fayetteville and brings a wealth of experience to the task of illustrating the story. Her simple, watercolor images remind us that you absolutely can find art in children’s books.
Please RSVP for this free program to the Weimar Library at 979-725-6608. Refreshments will be served. We hope you put this event on your personal calendar and remember you can follow our library on Facebook.
