COLUMBUS CITY COUNCIL
Member also appointed to Nesbitt Memorial Library Advisory Board
The Columbus city council swiftly approved a resolution authorizing the designated representative of the city to execute an agreement with the Texas Water Development Board for $3,225,854 in funding at their recent meeting Monday night, Jan. 13.
Council members took little to no time approving a majority of items on the agenda in what was a quick and efficient meeting.
In addition to the agreement, Kristi Samilpa, a former resident of Austin who recently moved to Columbus with her husband last year, was appointed to the Nesbitt Memorial Library Advisory Board for a term ending on April 1, 2028, in a motion made by council members.
“We moved here last February and have quickly fallen in love,” said Samilpa. “My husband is a retired Austin Police Department officer and I retired from the city myself working in administration. Having been a lifelog civil servant, it’s hard to leave that behind, so I found this opportunity and jumped at it. I’d love to become involved with the community and get to know other community members, offering what I can to the library board.”
The next Columbus city council meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 27.
