Columbus couple Todd Barten and Morgan Barten donated $60,000 to the city of Columbus for the purchase of new playground equipment at Midtown Park.

The playground equipment was installed by City Public Works and Parks department personnel and is part of an ongoing park improvement project which includes new pickle ball courts and fencing.

“How grateful the city is for this very generous donation,” said Columbus Mayor Lori An Gobert. “This new playground equipment will be well utilized for years to come. This, along with other improvements like the pickleball courts and music garden are revitalizing midtown park into something truly special. The city of Columbus and the future generations are blessed for such a giving community.”

The city is also planning on reworking the volleyball courts and horseshoe pits and are also making an application for the LCRA “Steps Forward” program which would see LCRA employees volunteering to work on park improvements including bench and hiking trail sign refurbishment.
