Do you feel that breeze between your knees, Colorado County?
The end of 2024 felt as if it was still summer with temperatures well into the 70s and 80s, but winter loves to swing hard in Texas Januarys.
Chilly winds and cold conditions touched down on Sunday afternoon and dropped drastically into the evening, with the day starting at a high of 73 degrees and ending at 32 by midnight.
Monday and Tuesday hit temperatures near or at freezing in the low 30s and high 20s in some parts, with the next couple of days poised to match that mark.
According to the US National Weather Service Houston- Galveston Texas, Thursday and Friday are expected to be the more dangerous days with temperatures dipping into the high 20s and rain likely to be involved, leaving road conditions unstable with potential freezing.
Additionally, measures should be taken to ensure you stay warm and protected, alongside pets, plants and ensuring safe equipment operation.
“Dress in layers, wear a hat and mittens or gloves when traveling outside,” said a Cold Weather Advisory provided by the US National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas. “Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Protect sensitive vegetation and cover plants and trees that cannot be brought inside. Use caution when operating generators and portable heaters. Do not use generators or grills inside.”
The weather is expected to take a turn for the warmer by Sunday, with highs within the 60s and lows teetering around the mid 30s, following a potential low of 32 degrees on Saturday.
