New and returning county officials sworn into posts at midnight
New or returning county officials were sworn in with family and friends watching at the Colorado County Courthouse last Thursday morning, Jan. 2.
Official swearings-in happened at the turn of the New Year right at 12 a.m. Wednesday morning, Jan. 1.
Your county officials for 2025 are Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Donald J. Clark, Precinct 3 County Constable Ivan V. Menke, Precinct 2 County Constable Lonnie L. Hinze, Colorado County Sheriff Justin Lindemann, County Auditor Michelle Lowrance, Precinct 1 County Constable Richard J. LaCourse, Precinct 1 Commissioner Shannon Owers, County Tax Assessor Melinda Zajicek, Precinct 3 Commissioner Keith Neuendorff and County Attorney Jay Johannes.
“As the Sheriff, I am honored to have been elected by the citizens of this great community,” said Lindemann. “It is a privilege to serve as one of the 254 Sheriffs in our state, and I am committed to serving you with the utmost dedication and respect. As sheriff, your safety is my top concern. This commitment extends to enforcing state laws, safeguarding your property, and preparing the Sheriff’s office for the future growth of our community. As the Sheriff, I am dedicated to pursuing grants and working with the commissioner’s court to equip law enforcement with the necessary tools to better serve our community. I am working tirelessly within my budget to create specialized positions to assist with the workload and keep our patrolmen in the unincorporated areas of our community. Our primary objective is to serve our community better, more effectively, and efficiently, and I am confident that we will achieve this.”
“The ceremony yesterday was very touching to me,” said Zajicek. “I am extremely honored that the citizens of Colorado County put their faith in me to represent them in this position. I will work tirelessly to do my very best for them in my offices and my door is always open. I have an amazing team of staff members who do a phenomenal job that I know I can rely on. My grandmother was the auditor, my great aunt was the drivers’ license lady. My other two great aunts worked in the clerk’s office, my dad was the surveyor and my uncle was a commissioner. I grew up in this courthouse.”
