YOAKUM — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will host an in-person public meeting with a virtual option for proposed improvements to FM 102 from I-10 to 0.66 miles south of FM 949 on Thursday, Jan. 9.
The public meeting will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Columbus High School Cafeteria, located on 103 Cardinal Lane. No formal presentation is planned, and community members are invited to come and go at their convenience.
TxDOT is proposing to widen and realign a 6.4-mile section of FM 102 in Colorado County. The corridor would maintain its existing two-lane footprint while widening the shoulders and rehabilitating existing curves to enhance safety and bring the roadway into compliance with current design standards.
The in-person public meeting will be held in an open house format. Attendees will be able to view informational display boards and other project materials, ask questions to TxDOT staff and/or consultants, and leave written comments.
A virtual public meeting will be available beginning that same day 5 p.m. To view the materials, visit Tx-DOT.gov, keyword search “FM 102 from I-10 to 0.66 miles south of FM 949.”
The virtual public meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation and include both audio and visual components. Participants will be able to view the same project materials available at the in-person public meeting.
Comments must be received by Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, to be included in the official record of this public meeting. Written comments from the public regarding the proposed project are requested and may be submitted by mail to the TxDOT Yoakum District Office, 403 Huck St., Yoakum, TX, 77995.
