The Weimar Ladycats won their last district game of 2024 then lost their first district game of 2025.

The Ladycats played Bloomington and Shiner and left themselves with a 3-1 district record by the end of it.

Vs. Bloomington, 76-8, W On New Year’s Eve the Ladycats traveled to take on Bloomington in their last district game of 2024. This game comes after the frustrating finish for the Ladycats in their Holiday Hoops tournament.

They started the tournament with two big wins but then fell off with backto- back losses, so they were looking to bounce back. They bounced back with a 68-point victory.

The Ladycats offense has a ton of weapons at its disposal, and they were all utilized against Bloomington. They find their most success inside the paint with Jaiya Cook being a dominant force for the Ladycats.

Clarie Pavlu, Tate Griffin and J’Len Conn also turned in strong performances from the guard position giving the Ladycats an extra boost offensively.

The Ladycats were now ready to ring in 2025 after the win and set their sights on their next game against Shiner as their first game in the new year.

Vs. Shiner, 45-37, L

in their first game of 2025 the Ladycats lost by only eight points to a team that usually causes them some problems. Shiner is always a thorn in Weimar’s side and this game was no different.

They frustrated the Ladycats offense and forced several costly turnovers and won the rebounding battle. Shiner also handled their business at the free throw line, handing the Ladycats another tough lesson this season.

The Ladycats are a young team so there will be some stumbles throughout the season. Even though they are young they are a very resilient group that is up to the challenges that will be presented to them.

The Ladycats will take the loss in stride as it is only their first district loss of the year and are still in a playoff spot. They are scheduled to take on Flatonia next on Tuesday, Jan. 7, on their home court in Weimar.
