On Wednesday, Dec. 11, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Library was gifted three Texas history books by the Dilue Rose Harris Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT).
Each year the DRT offers an essay contest for both 4th and 7th graders on a different topic each year, with prizes offered at the local chapter and state levels.
Mrs. Danette Cantu’s 7th grade class will be participating in this year’s contest, “Which site should be considered the birthplace of the Republic of Texas; West Columbia, Washington- on-the-Brazos, or San Jacinto?”
These books were donated in order to assist the students in their research. If you are interested in writing an essay, please contact Donna Pustejovsky at [email protected] or visit the Learn section of the DRT website at www. drtinfo.com.
