Eagle Lake’s Texas ChalleNGe Academy saw their biggest graduating class in history walk the stage this past Saturday, Dec. 21, wrapping up their last cycle of the year.
The commencement of the 2024-1 class took place over the weekend at 10 a.m. with clear skies and students full of cheer, ready to finally go home and showcase how much they have transformed in the past 5 ½ months.
After 22 rigorous weeks, TCA cycle 19 finally walked the stage receiving their diplomas for completing the program from start to finish. While some students will be heading back to the public-school portal with high school credit hours under their belt, other students graduated with high school diplomas or GEDs.
38 graduates received their high school diplomas while 20 students received their GEDs. Some students even completed both, with a total of 48 graduates completing their high school requirements.
David De Mers, program director at TCA, remarked on an incredible cycle for the program and their graduates that saw the Texas ChalleNGe Academy make history.
“With 111 graduates,” said De Mers. “This was the largest class Texas ChalleNGe Academy has graduated in our 25-year history. We’re so proud of our graduates.”
The next cycle of classes for the program is set to begin next year, Jan. 12.
