The Weimar Wildcats defeated Moulton 71-54 on the road on Tuesday, Dec. 17, for a huge win before they dive into their district schedule.
This win was significant for multiple reasons but only three will be highlighted and all three are big picture reasons.
First reason, this is a confidence booster, right now teams are in tournament play so it’s hard to gauge what or who a team is. They play foursix games over the span on two-three days, it’s exhausting to say the least.
So, games like this are important, because the Wildcats were able to get some rest in the midst of tournament play and fans got to see them at full strength. At full strength the Wildcats are capable of dropping 71 points and winning by 17.
For a team that struggled a lot of last season, this is a major boost to their confidence and a sign of things to come for the Wildcats.
Second reason, this team is settled into their roles and everyone is gelling well. At the start of the year the basketball Continued from 7A

team was playing well but something was off, and the solution was to do nothing.
The Wildcats had a very successful year on the gridiron, they made it all the way to the Area Championship before being eliminated. But they held up the basketball team because almost their entire starting five played on the football team.
Once they got those guys back there was a bit of a grace period to get everyone on the same page. It took a little bit of time but other than wait and let things naturally gel together there was no other solution for head coach Jacob Rehak.
Once again it is a sign of things to come, it’s a positive sign that they moved the ball well and took care of their defensive end and came away win a big win.
The third reason is, this win comes right before their district schedule but more importantly it comes right before the Christmas break. There’s no better way to go celebrate the holidays with family than dominating and winning a game.
So, the Wildcats have a 17-point win under their belt and all they have to do now is, rest, relax, wait for Santa and come back ready to take on Snook on Saturday, Dec. 28.
