The Rice Lady Raiders dropped their most recent game 60-20 on Tuesday, Dec. 17, against Industrial.
This is where things are going to sound crazy, but the Lady Raiders did not play necessarily bad, all things considered.
Look it’s hard to say a team played well after a 40-point loss on their home court. But, last week there was a story that talked about how the Lady Raiders are young and very green when it comes to playing at the varsity level.
It is very much a learning process, and they are still not where they need to be but it’s a work in progress. The good news is that there is noticeable progress.
So, with all those things in mind let’s get into it.

The Lady Raiders actually put together a nice little game. One thing that jumped out was their rebounding, it was much better this game.
That has been a point of emphasis all year long, if they want to give themselves a chance in a game they have to rebound and dominate inside the paint. They still have some work to do in that category, but it is always positive to see it trending in the right direction.
Another thing that is trending in the right direction is their passing ability. Throughout the season their youth shined brightly because when they set up on offense, they’d turn the ball over at a high rate.
It was because they were still learning both the pace of play and the systems. They had to learn that they don’t have a ton of space out there, so it is imperative that they move the ball quickly and effectively.
Against Tidehaven they did just that and were rewarded with a few open looks from mid-range and three-point.
These are all good signs for fans because even though they are losing, all signs point to the Lady Raiders figuring things out and that should be a scary thought for teams in their district.
