Crash kills Weimar mother, daughter

One left in critical condition

A Weimar mother and daughter were killed in a fatal car accident over the weekend, leaving another daughter in critical condition on Sunday evening, Dec. 8.

Both girls involved in the accident attended Weimar Elementary School, one a 4th grader and the other a 2nd grader.

The 4th grader died alongside her mother in the accident while the 2nd grader is currently fighting for her life.

The Weimar Independent School District released a statement on Facebook Tuesday afternoon addressing the tragic loss.

“It is with profound sadness that we share with you about a loss to our Weimar ISD family,” said the post. “A 4th grade student and her mother passed away tragically as a result of a car accident on Sunday evening. Another Weimar Elementary 2nd grade student was also injured in the accident and is currently still in critical condition and needs our prayers. We are in a state of shock and emotional grief over this loss and want to extend our deepest condolences to the family. Counselors are available today and will continue to be available if your student wishes to speak with someone.”

At press time, the details of the accident are unknown as the Weimar community pray for the little girl and mourn the loss of the two victims.
