The Columbus Christian Women’s Organization dispersed $31,000 in donations to five different organizations across Colorado County at a special luncheon last Thursday, Dec. 5 at Glidden Baptist Church.

Amongst the recipients of the donations were Colorado County Habitat for Humanity, the Turtle Wing Foundation, Youth and Family Services, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Colorado Valley and Children’s Protective Services.

In addition to the $31,000 in donations made that day, $15,000 will also be dispersed to the Columbus Community Hospital and the Colorado County Wellness Council, who were unable to attend that day’s event.

The luncheon was held to remark on the accomplishments over the course of the year made by the CCWO, with the organization highlighting fundraising efforts and work already done in addition to the donations given that day.

“We have already done Deputy Santa,” said President Sharon Johnson. “The Columbus Food Pantry, the Nesbitt Memorial Library, the kids’ programs, Shop with a Cop, the Columbus Education Foundation and more.”

Across the entire year, the CCWO has given or will have given $55,000 in grants and donations.

Johnson additionally gave her last order as CCWO president, passing the leadership baton to Cynthia Alley who had been elected to replace Johnson as the president of the organization in 2025.

A Christmas play was also performed whilst attendees enjoyed the lunch by members of the CCWO and church to celebrate the season.

The Columbus Christian Women’s Organization continues to provide funding and donations to organizations around town and the county at large as part of their ongoing mission to improve the lives of the residents in the area.
