The Weimar Ladycats jumped out to a strong start this season and continued to roll against Abeline- Cooper.
The Ladycats defeated Abeline-Cooper 49-27 as they have stacked up wins to start the year.
The Ladycats have their offense down and everyone has fully settled into their roles making it easy for them to get open shots from multiple spots. They are playing as a team to start the season and it is paying big dividends.
It’s no surprise a team coached by Jenny Fricke is playing at a high level. She knows what buttons to push on her team to get the best out of them.
Defensively the Ladycats are just as strong, with seamless rotations and very active hands to record steals. They did an excellent job defensively, they kept Abeline-Cooper on the perimeter and forced them to take several bad shots.
They are not doing anything significant scheme wise either, they are just playing hard basketball and they are stacking wins because of it. Their effort on defense is noticeable and it is in large part thanks to the leadership core that the Ladycats have.
Players like Claire Pavlu Madison Luckey, Tate Griffin and Jaiya Cook were all on the team last season and know the level of play coach Fricke expects. They know what it will take for them to make the playoffs.
They know how important these games are, and they know that they are going to have to make some noise in the district when the time comes. It’s going to be challenging to say the least, but the Ladycats are up for the challenge.
This team is so determined to make a name for themselves. Last season the Ladycats made the playoffs and had a nice run, but they are hungry for more.
The Ladycats will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 12, competing in the Brazos tournament.
