A fire broke out at a home located on County Road 220 in Weimar last Tuesday, Nov. 26, resulting in the total loss of the property.

Around 11:30 a.m. that day, the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire call after the Weimar VFD was initially dispatched to the scene, requesting mutual aid for tanker support and additional personnel.

By the time the Columbus VFD arrived on scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames and was difficult to contain due to its closeness to other structures alongside strong winds and water supply limitations.

The Oakridge VFD, who happened to coincidentally be in the area after returning from inspecting a new tanker, provided assistance to the two other VFDs by supplying additional water to contain the blaze.

Despite the combined efforts of the three fire departments, the home was a total loss.

No injuries were reported as nobody was in the house at the time of the fire. The Colorado County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation, and the cause of the fire still remains unknown.

Other agencies on site included the Colorado County Office of Emergency Management, the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado County EMS and the Weimar Police Department.

The Weimar, Columbus and Oakridge Volunteer Fire Departments banded together to fight a fire located on a county road in Weimar.
