Local non-profit, Colorado County Farm Bureau (CCFB), held their annual officer elections on Tuesday, Nov. 12th.

Texas Farm Bureau is the largest grassroots, member- based agricultural organization in Texas, focused on promoting education, policy development, and awareness to promote the state’s farmers and ranchers and the production of food and fiber for the state.

The county boards bring this objective to the local level, with a board of local farmers and ranchers taking time to further the knowledge and support of agriculture in our community.

This year marked a changing of the guard, with new officers. The Board would like to thank Marv Ulbricht for his many years of dedicated service as board President.

Under Ulbricht, the county has accomplished many things to promote agriculture and education in our county, worked on policy development, and grown the organization’s membership in conjunction with the insurance team, as well as playing a pivotal role in relocating and building the current office on Walnut.

Incoming President Gerald Heintschel has been on the board for many years and has served in multiple positions on the executive board as well, including President.

The Board is made up of up to 13 members who all specialize in different commodities and bring their years of experience to the table. Board members annually put on Ag Field Day, award $10,000 in scholarships between the high schools, donate to local organizations, offer educational and grant programs for local schools, and much more.

Ag Field Day is a field trip for all the county’s third graders to attend a stations- style, hands-on day of learning about plants and animals in agriculture at the Fairgrounds.

Heintschel remarked, “We all appreciate Marv’s years as President and the dedication and work he has put into it. This is a labor of love for all of us. Getting our community, especially the kids, involved in agriculture makes it possible to keep farming and ranching moving forward to provide for our families and the community, state, and nation. It takes a lot of work, and together we can continue to impact our neighbors in a positive way.”
