The Rice Lady Raiders played in two games before the Thanksgiving holiday where they split the decisions of those games by winning one and losing the other.

Their win was their first of the season and it came a great time to give the young squad some confidence early on in the season.

Vs. Lousie, W, 27-22 Getting the first win of the season checked off the list is a huge accomplishment for every team every year. These kids know exactly how hard it is to win games at the varsity level, and it gets even harder as the season goes along.

For this young team to get their first win within the first five games is a big boost to their confidence because now they have a list of positives, they can build on instead of looking at negatives after a loss.

The offense for the Lady Raiders is starting to settle into their roles a little bit more and finding some more comfort within their roles. As they grew more comfortable in their roles, they were able to execute their systems much easier and thus resulted in a huge first win.

Feeling confident after their first win and the Thanksgiving holiday coming up the Lady Raiders were giddy to tip off against the Weimar Ladycats in a Colorado County showdown.

@ Weimar, L, 61-28

Now looking solely at the scoreboard this is a really tough loss for the Lady Raiders.

But looking deeper this was not all that bad of a loss. As mentioned earlier this team is a young team, they have a lot of growing to do and there is going to be some growing pains this season.

They matched up with a smaller school but a school that is a little more seasoned when it comes to playing varsity basketball. The Lady Raiders hung in there and continued to work on their systems on both ends on the floor and made sure the Ladycats earned every bucket they scored.

The Lady Raiders will be back in action on Dec. 10 when they travel to take on the Hallettsville Bahamas looking for their second win of the year.
