The Weimar Ladycats have tipped off to start their basketball season and are off to a 5-1 start.

The Ladycats wanted to build off of last season’s success and they have put themselves in an excellent position to do so, winning five of their first six games.

The Ladycats have a ton of good veteran leadership from last season to lean on in Claire Pavlu, Da’Dreanna Granger, Madison Luckey, Jaiya Cook and Tate Griffin. They are bringing the same level of energy and excitement they brought last season that helped them get into playoffs and it’s helped them get off to a strong start this season.

The Ladycats picked up their first win of the season in their first game against Nordheim. The Ladycats must have been excited to get going this season because they beat Nordheim 80-16.

It’s hard to think of a better way to start a season than with a 64-point victory but the Ladycats were brought back down to Earth in their second game.

In their second game of the year the Ladycats were handed their first loss by the La Grange Lady Leopards who always play hard. They are a good team to match up with because games are always competitive, and this one was no different.

The Ladycats came up only 12-points short against the Lady Leopards but learned a lot from their loss. They carried those lessons with them into their third game where they got back in the win column with a 60-25 win over Brazos.

Their fourth game of the year saw the Ladycats pick up yet another victory, but this victory was easily their most impressive victory in their history. The Ladycats beat Waelder 63-1, yes you read that correctly, to capture their third win of the season.

Just like the first game of the year they carried that confidence and swagger into their next two games against Rosebud-Lott and Rice. The Ladycats defeated both teams by scores of 49-18 and 61-28 respectively.

With the Ladycats off and running in the early stages of their schedule they took the time to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday before returning back to the court in December.

The Ladycats are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 3, to take on Needville and then again of Dec. 13 to take on the Village Vikings.
