11 Ladycats selected to All-District team

The Weimar Ladycats put together a strong season this year but unfortunately were eliminated from the playoffs.

This team was underrated all season long but with 11 of their players cracking the All-District roster, the Ladycats put themselves on the map.

Starting with Janiyah Cooper, she was selected as the Co-District MVP and for a good reason. She’s so athletic and can score at will with a deceptively powerful swing but the best part about her game is, she is always having fun.

Cooper always had a smile on her face and kept things positive around her team. She took a big step as a leader on this team and was awarded the Co-MVP award for it.

Chandley Tolbert was selected as the Co-Defensive Player of the Year for the Ladycats. She is already tall and an intimidating presence on the court, she was also a dominant force at the net.

If players were lucky enough to squeak one past Tolbert at the net for a point, they kept the ball because that did not happen often. Tolbert anchored the Ladycats defense and earned this honor to end the season.

The First All-District team saw Madison Luckey, Lauren Hinze and Taylor Smith be selected to represent the Ladycats. These three did it all, they were a scrappy trio that was the engine to the Ladycats offense some games.

Luckey and Hinze were great at setting players up for Tolbert and Cooper, while Smith shut down the opposition on defense.

On the Second All-District team the Ladycats saw Claire Pavlu, Jaiya Cook and Skylar Rhodes get selected with Erica Billeck, Bevin Brenner and Cheyenne Booker being listed as honorable mentions.

Pavlu and Cook are veterans on this team they have been around a while and hardly ever get the recognition they deserve but now they have it. Rhodes was such a fun player to watch this season, like Tolbert she was a nightmare for opposing offenses and she had a scoring touch that was very critical for the Ladycats down the stretch.

Billeck, Brenner and Booker each played a part in the Ladycats deep playoff run, they filled in where they needed to and kept mistakes to a minimum, they just played clean volleyball and like their teammates earned their spot on this team.
