SHERIFF’S REPORT

TUESDAY, JULY 2

At approximately 5:36 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to a public service in reference to credit card fraud in the 6700 block of US HWY 90, Sealy, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case active.

At approximately 8:13 p.m., deputy Melendez while patrolling near County Road 118 at Highway 90A, Rock Island, Tx., Melendez observed an abandoned vehicle blocking the roadway. After further investigation, the vehicle was towed from the roadway and entered into TCIC/NCIC as stored and abandoned. Case cleared.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 3

At approximately 10:11 p.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to the 1100 block of FM 1890, Columbus, Tx, in reference to an abandoned vehicle. After further investigation, the vehicle was removed from the roadway and entered into TCIC/NCIC as stored and abandoned. Case cleared.

THURSDAY, JULY 4

At approximately 7:25 p.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to Deer Hollow Road, Weimar, Tx, in reference to property damage. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case active.

FRIDAY, JULY 5

At approximately 5:49 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to Ave I, Sheridan, Tx, in reference to trespassing. After further investigation, information was received and a subject was issued a criminal trespass warning. Case cleared.

SUNDAY, JULY 7

At approximately 7:33 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 1400 block of Hwy 90A, Sheridan, Tx, in reference to a stabbing. After further investigation, Marion Arriola Duarte, age 49, of Sheridan, was arrested for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury - felony 2, burglary of a habitation intended other - felony 1, and aggravated assault in retaliation - felony 1. Case cleared by adult arrest.

MONDAY, JULY 8

At approximately 12:02 a.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 2800 block of First Street, Rock Island, Tx, in reference to an unwanted subject. After further investigation, the suspect, Edwin Cruz-Gomez, age 29, of Rock Island, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury to a family member - class “A” misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.

TUESDAY, JULY 9

At approximately 2:22 p.m., deputy Mican was contacted by the Sealy Police Department in reference to a possible diesel theft in the 6700 block of Hwy 90. After further investigation, it was determined several individuals had taken large amounts of diesel using a fraudulent credit card and two possible suspects were arrested on unrelated charges. Case is active.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10

At approximately 6:28 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to westbound IH 10 mile marker 704 in reference to an abandoned vehicle. After further investigation, the vehicle was removed from the roadway and entered into TCIC/NCIC as stored and abandoned. Case cleared.

THURSDAY, JULY 11

At approximately 8:55 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 4400 block of Highway 90 regarding harassment. After further investigation, a criminal trespass warning was issued to a subject. Case cleared.

FRIDAY, JULY 12

At approximately 8:26 p.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to IH 10 eastbound 708 mile marker near Cat Spring in reference to a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, Deundre Jones, age 26, of Houston, Tx, was arrested for an out-of-county misdemeanor warrant. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 8:36 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to the 1700 block of FM 102 in reference to a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, Roberto Randel, age 49, of San Antonio, Tx, was arrested for an outof- county misdemeanor warrant. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 1:17 a.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to the area near IH-10 mile marker 698 in reference to power lines being struck and torn down. Through further investigation, a report was generated and the incident was documented. Case information only.

SUNDAY, JULY 14

At approximately 7:47 p.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to IH-10 westbound 705 mile marker near Bernardo in reference to a vehicle fire. After an investigation a report was taken. Case cleared by report.

MONDAY, JULY 15

At approximately 12:08 p.m., deputy Zwahr was dispatched to the Columbus Community Hospital in reference to a dog bite that occurred in the 2200 block of Hwy 71 S, Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, the ten day quarantine was completed. Case cleared.

At approximately 7:27 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 2200 block of FM 109 in reference to an assault. After further investigation information was received and a report was taken. A warrant was issued on this case and subsequently, Corey Peikert, age 36, of Columbus, Tx, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury - Class “A” misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.

TUESDAY, JULY 16

At approximately 3:19 p.m., deputy Melendez was dispatched to the area of State Highway 71 E near Business 71 in reference to an agency assist. After further investigation, deputies located a suspect who had evaded from the Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers and turned the suspect over to their custody. Case information only.

At approximately 5:13 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office lobby to speak with a subject in reference to a theft that occurred on Baxter Street in Garwood, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case inactive.
