CEF grants $2K scholarship to local student

The Columbus Education Foundation congratulates Carrie Fuller for being the recipient of a $2,000 scholarship to help further her education.

Upon graduating from Columbus High School, Fuller enrolled at Sam Houston State University. Fuller is pursuing a major in Theater Education and a minor in English. After graduating, Fuller plans to become a teacher in the Theater Arts arena.

Fuller expressed her gratitude for receiving this scholarship.

“Theater has been a great passion in my life and inspired me to prepare myself for a career in Theater Education. I credit the great teachers I had for giving me such a strong foundation. The theater community at Columbus High School was strong and further motivated me to take this career path.”

This scholarship was provided by the Linda Blair Memorial Scholarship fund administered by the Columbus Education Foundation Board. The Linda Blair Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of a teacher that was an inspiration to many students at Columbus Elementary School.

Linda had a true passion for teaching and was dedicated to the success of her students. Many people in the Columbus area fondly remember Mrs. Blair because of the profound impact she had on their early education.

This scholarship fund was created by her family and through friends’ memorial gifts. The mission of the fund is to help students interested in pursuing a career as a teacher and follow in the footsteps of Linda Blair. The Columbus Educational Foundation provides scholarships for furthering the education of CISD students in both University/College and Technical/Trade School. This has been a record year for facilitating scholarships that totaled $30,000.

This funding was made possible due to the outpouring of generosity from individuals and corporations. The Board of CEF expresses great gratitude to all donors for supporting the education of our students in the CISD system.

Besides scholarships, CEF works to provide classroom grants for special projects to enhance the learning experience in the classroom. Teachers from all campuses, elementary through high school, submit grant applications for a creative project. In 2024, some grants bought additional equipment to expand learning skills. The 2025 grant winners will be announced soon!
