Floral designs and horticulture specimens concoct quite a brew

Members of Columbus Garden Club enjoyed sharing with the community their love of design and joy of growing all kinds of plants at their recent Small Standard Flower Show held on Nov. 6.

There were 60 horticulture entries, 12 designs, and 3 sections. The entries were judged by National Garden Club Accredited Flower Show Judges using the NGC Standard System of Awards for all competitive

Excellence.

In addition to local garden club members there were participants from Rockport, Houston and Hondo.

The Texas Garden Club, Inc. president, Lee Taylor, was an entrant in the Boo Section of Design.

The club wishes to express their appreciation to members of the community who attended the show and Nesbitt Memorial Library for the wonderful meeting space.

Janet Johnson won the Botanical Arts award for her fairy garden, a Growers Choice Award for an African Violet, a Growers Choice Award for a Heart Leaf Hoya, and the award for overall Horticulture which is the Award of Horticulture
