Weimar VFW recap recent meeting

The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on Nov. 12 with 11 members present. The meeting was opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.

Kim Kutach, Linda Wick and Grisel Markwood were accepted for membership into the Auxiliary and were initiated as new members in a ceremony conducted by President Charlene Muras.

Emails were read by President Charlene Muras regarding membership, mid-winter meeting January 16-18, the next District meeting and officer dues.

There are currently 13 annual members and 23 life members for a total of 36 members.

Dolores Lauck reported on the many programs that were held to honor veterans for Veterans Day. Jeanette Koenig reported on TOT around the track, voting, membership and thank you cards. There were two auxiliary members, 12 veterans and eight residents present at the Men’s Coffee at Parkview on October 18. Charlene Muras reported that a vote poster was displayed at TOT around the track and that she gave out 2 applications for membership.

In January the Auxiliary plans to honor nurses by distributing cookies to area nursing homes, etc.

Marty Heinrich reported that the PP/VOD contests are complete and that winning entries have been forwarded to District for further competition. Charlene Muras reported that all pins, raffle tickets and calendars have been sold.

Christmas stockings for homebound veterans and Auxiliary members will be delivered in December. Members are asked to bring Christmas cards for veterans to the next meeting to be distributed to the Veterans Hospitals. There will be a meal before the next meeting at 5:30 p.m. Members voted to donate to the Illustrated America Fund and to the Nursing Scholarship Fund.

For the Good of the Order, Jeanette Koenig reminded members to fly the US flag on Thanksgiving Day November 28, Pearl Harbor Day Dec.7, US Space Force Day Dec. 20 and Christmas Day Dec. 25. Charlene Muras instructed members on Healthy Auxiliary requirements, membership in the Auxiliary and Auxiliary traditions.

The next meeting will be on Dec. 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Weimar VFW Hall kitchen following the meal at 5:30 p.m.
