SAS Angel Card recipients proudly show off the recognition for their good deeds.

Last week, the SAS 6th grade toured the historic Painted Churches dotting the countryside near Schulenburg. Built by Czech and German immigrants in styles reminiscent of their homelands, the churches are colorful and ornate.

Students also visited Raphael’s Refuge in Flatonia, a memorial honoring innocent babies that have died, born or unborn. The monument, made of glass blocks, is named after the Archangel Raphael as he is known as a healer through the power of God and offers a place of emotional support through prayer and remembrance.

Another field trip took the 4th graders to the Zimmerscheidt School on FM 109 where they learned about school life in the one-room schoolhouse from 1857-1948.

Last Friday, Nov. 15, the 5th graders attended Blinn-Schulenburg’s “If I had a Hammer” program. Students participated in team building activities, learning skills and knowledge for the future. Tomorrow, the Kindergarten class will head to the Oil Ranch in Hockley for some fall field trip fun.

Yesterday, Nov. 19, Saints celebrated the character trait “honesty”, by gathering in teams and discussing the meaning of honesty and times when they knew someone wasn’t being honest with them. Groups also played a game called “2 truths and a lie”, and tried to detect which statement was the lie.

Basketball kicked off their first games last Thursday at OLV in Victoria. Last Saturday, Saints Basketball boys played in the B team tournament hosted by St. Rose in Schulenburg and then SAS hosted Nazareth on Monday at home. Tomorrow, Nov. 21, the A teams will travel to Giddings to play Immanuel Lutheran starting at 6pm.

Upcoming events: Early release on Friday, Nov. 22, at 1:15 p.m. SAS welcomes all to attend Children’s Mass on Fridays at 8:15 a. m.
