The deadline is quickly approaching for high school seniors or the equivalent therof to apply for a scholarship by the Navidad CattleWomen.
To qualify, applicants must be a resident of Lavaca, Fayette, or Colorado counties. Applications must be postmarked by March 10. Applicants may be downloaded at www.nvcw.org.
A completed NVCW scholarship application must be submitted along with an essay about her/himself, any agricultural influences and goals, involvement in the beef industry, and goals in life. Applicants must submit a copy of his/her transcript through mid-term of their senior year, rank, and GPA. The winning applicant(s) will be paid a one-time award to be used toward tuition or other education-related expenses. Payment of scholarships will be made when the NVCW have received proof of enrollment at an accredited college, university, or technical school. Completing and downloading the application should all be done from the website. Applicants will need to save it to their computer, print to sign and mail to NVCW Scholarship Chair Kay Gibson at 2321 Schulze Road, Muldoon, TX 78949.
March 10 is also the deadline for a special on-line auction opportunity that Navidad Valley CattleWomen are offering due to a very generous donation. They are auctioning off four tickets to see the SOLD OUT Cody Johnson concert at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on March 17. The auction information may be found on the CattleWomen facebook page @nvcw.org or at Auctria.com. All funds raised will be utilized for the first ever NVCW Collegiate Scholarship.
Navidad Valley Cattlewomen is a local chapter of Texas Cattlewomen and is a non-profit beef promotion and education organization. The Navidad Valley local works to support local youth with scholarships and provide quality information on the industry and how to incorporate beef into a healthy diet.
