An error in the Nov. 6 edition of The Citizen incorrectly reported a financial figure regarding a charitable effort to help restore the R.E. Stafford Opera House. The story should have noted AL&M Building Supplies “has gifted (the Columbus Historical Preservation Trust) a $20,000 credit to be used for supplies in the restoration,” according to a prepared release.
AL&M co-owners Mark and Alison Korell said they “know well how reconstruction can take on a life of its own and …felt it was important to provide the support needed to tackle each project.”
The building supply and hardware company has a long history of aiding Columbus organizations dating to the prior owners, Mitja and Barbara Peterman.
“Our Columbus community has a never-ending drive to roll up their sleeves and put in the time, energy and money to preserving our local gems, from the Stafford Opera House to the Live Oak Art Center to the Zimmerscheidt School,” Alison Korell said. “And that’s just scratching the surface. It is an honor to give back to the community we serve.”
The opera-house restoration project is coordinated by the CHPT.
