The Columbus Rescue Dogs raised $10,000 at their inaugural “Paws and Pints Harvest” event at Hound Song Brewing Co. this past Saturday, Nov. 9.
The fundraiser, organized in tandem with Hound Song Brewing Co. and Freedom Street Rescue, included a silent auction, a raffle, door prizes, a doggy kissing booth and the “bougie barking” dog fashion show.
Funds were raised to aid in the Columbus Rescue Dogs’ efforts to prevent unwanted dogs from being euthanized, saving their lives, nursing them back to health and fostering them before seeking new homes for the dogs to be adopted.
Christine Girndt of Columbus Rescue Dogs highlighted the organization’s expenses and how the money raised at the event will aid in their efforts to continue rescuing dogs, giving the fact that the organization is a non-profit and only operates on donations.
“The $10,000 definitely helps with all of our outstanding vet bills,” said Girndt. “We appreciate everyone who came out and everyone who donated. our vet bills average anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 so this definitely helps.”
Girndt thanked those involved in the event and the donors that made the fundraiser a success, and possible in the first place.
“On behalf of Columbus Rescue Dogs and Freedom Street Rescue we would like to thank Hound Song Brewing Co. for letting us hold our event at their facility this past Saturday,” said Girndt. “We also want to thank the many donors.
