The Weimar Ladycats won the Bi-district championship after they defeated Pettus in three straight sets but then fell to Burton in the area round.

Vs. Pettus, W, 3-0 (25-6, 25-9, 25-8)

In the first round of the playoffs the Ladycats were ready to make a statement, and they did exactly that.

Being one of the most underrated teams in the district and the playoff bracket the Ladycats knew they had to come out swinging in the Bi-District championship. Their offense settled right into the game and jumped out to an early lead.

Chandley Tolbert, Lauren Hinze and Janiyah Cooper each played a big role in the first set. They suffocated the Pettus defense and were able to come away with a big win in the first set.

Defensively the Ladycats were sharp in the first set, they guarded the net well and made it really easy for the back row to make plays. Skylar Rhodes, Jaiya Cook and Taylor Smith held the Pettus offense in check and gave up on six pints in the first set.

This theme remained throughout the match for the Ladycats, and they were able to sweep Pettus in the first round with score of 25-9 and 25-8.

With the Bi-District championship under their belt the Ladycats found themselves matched up with Burton in the Area Championship.

Vs. Buton, L, 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-20)

The Ladycats were coming off a big win in the Bi-District championship, they came face-to-face with an opponent that they had met early this season.

The Ladycats and Burton have played each other three times this season, twice in tournament play and once in non-district play. The Ladycats had only two sets in those three games, so they came into this game ready to flip the script.

In the first set the Ladycats fell short by only three points and brought the Burton fans to life. In the second set the Ladycats offense struggled a bit and Burton was able to put a big point cushion between them and the Ladycats to win the second set.

The third set saw the Ladycats offense return to form but Burton was still able to drive the nail in the coffin and send the Ladycats home.

The Ladycats season may be over, but they accomplished so much in a short amount of time and have a bright future ahead of them.

Chandley Tolbert was a big part of the offensive surge for the Ladycats against Pettus.
