America Palacios’ journey toward becoming a teacher began in kindergarten with her teacher, Mrs. Burnett, whose warmth and care made her feel seen and valued beyond being just another student.
As she entered her early career, America worked with Avance’s Head Start program and had the honor of learning from her first mentor, Inger Potts. Mrs. Potts opened her eyes to the limitless possibilities within education, setting a strong foundation for her path.
Throughout her career, America has been fortunate to follow in the footsteps of many inspiring women who have shaped her growth in the field. Being part of the RHS community has been a true blessing, allowing her not only to witness her daughters’ educational journeys up close but also to share in the success of countless students as they graduate and thrive.
For America, there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing former students return or bumping into them around town, hearing about the meaningful lives they are building.
She strives to instill resilience and hope in her students, encouraging them to hold onto their faith through both challenges and joys. Her goal is to ensure they know that, with dedication and hard work, they can achieve any goal they set. One quote that guides her every day is from Mother Teresa: “Do small things with great love.”
