Arbor Day celebration a joyous success

Columbus Garden Club, friends, neighbors, city and county officials all came together to celebrate Arbor Day on Friday Nov. 1 and to honor Doreen and Dale Alexander by planting a cedar elm tree at Midtown Park in honor of their many acts of kindness and acts of community exhibited through the years.

The Alexanders were given a mock check to represent the garden club’s donation to the Alexander Flag Fund at Industry State Bank and a certificate to commemorate the day.

Doreen and Dale also took home the beautiful centerpiece that decorated the refreshment table. The centerpiece was donated by Stacy Renner, garden club member and owner of Take Root in Columbus.

It was a glorious day in spite of the clouds. Drive by to check out the cedar elm at MidTown Park’s flag circle at Preston and Railroad Ave.
