LA GRANGE — The Gideon Lincecum Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists has announced that registration is now open for their 2025 training class. This comprehensive program develops skilled volunteers who contribute to natural resource education and conservation efforts across five Texas counties: Austin, Colorado, Fayette, Lee, and Washington.
The 15-week training program, running from January 11 through May 17, 2025, combines classroom instruction with hands-on field experience. Participants will attend Saturday sessions and select Monday evening Zoom meetings, fulfilling the state-required minimum of 40 hours of combined instruction.
“Our program offers an unparalleled opportunity for nature enthusiasts to deepen their understanding of Texas’ natural resources while preparing to serve their communities,” said a chapter representative. “From climatology to ornithology, participants gain extensive knowledge of our local ecosystems.”
The curriculum includes: • Soil science and geology
• Forest and prairie ecology
• Botany and plant identification
• Wildlife biology and herpetology
• Ornithology and mammalogy
• Archaeology and land stewardship
• Citizen Science methodologies • Pollinator and insect studies Training sessions feature presentations by subject matter experts and guided field trips, providing participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Upon completion, graduates join a dynamic network of volunteers dedicated to natural resource conservation and education.
