Book donated to CES in memory of teacher who died

A book was donated at the recent Columbus School Board meeting to the Columbus Elementary School Library in memory of a former teacher who recently passed away.

Columbus local Rita Sulik donated the book “Monster and Mouse Go Camping,” by Deborah Underwood to the CES Library in memory of Lisa Klekar, a former Columbus Elementary School teacher who died right before the beginning of the 20242025 school year in a car accident.

Cash receipts sat at $1,327,385, while cash disbursements sat at $2,074,612. The cash position as of Sept. 30 was $9,970,504.

Dr. Miller Beaird, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Leadership, presented the District Improvement Plan.

Board members approved expenditures in excess of more than $50,000. Special Education: $49,534.20. Maintenance: $42,756.86 and another Maintenance expense of $34,737.

Board members also approved the adjunct staff member status for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and approval of the extracurricular resolution. The Board additionally approved the committee member recommendations for the School Health Advisory Council for the 2024-2025 school year.

Student graduates Jordan Raymond Green and Issac Angelo Aguilar from Columbus Crossing High School were presented to the board, alongside an invocation from Jillian Miksch, senior at Columbus High School.
