Adapted from the hit movie written by Tina Fey and starring Lindsay Lohan, Mean Girls Jr. tells the story of student Cady Heron who must learn to navigate the treacherous social hierarchy of high school when her family moves to suburban Illinois from Kenya.
The show is the 2nd musical all-school musical under the direction of Michelle Schendel. Last year, Rice presented Elf: The Musical, and Schendel is directing again because she believes the experience for students is invaluable.
“One of the reasons I love directing an All-School musical is that it brings together students from several different activities,” said Schendel. “Students always say they love having the opportunity to become friends with new people they might have otherwise overlooked. That’s always a good thing for a school.”
This year, students involved also participate in band, color guard, cheer, football, cross country, volleyball, sports training, and of course, drama.
Rice’s production of Mean Girls Jr. stars senior Kendal Rollins as Cady, junior Easton Center as Damian, sophomore Evellynn Ellis as Janis, and senior Addyson Fucik as Regina George.
